Guardianship

Author: Ayisha M Jumma

Last night, I got home late. When she woke me up from my sleep, I asked, “Is it late?”

“Why have you hidden my cob and mirror?” she replied, running her fingers through her hair as she went out.

For a while I was feeling sleepy but couldn’t sleep, then after some time, I went out as well. We both sat face to face. She said, “Nowadays, why do people look at you very deeply?”

I replied, “People look at me because they want to find your lost cob and mirror, that’s why.”

While playing with her hair, she said, “If you hide my fingers, then what will happen?”

Then I went back home.
