LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Judge Justice Atir Mahmood has given more time to the federal government for filing a reply in the petition filed against empowering Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for presenting supplementary or additional budget.
Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi filed a petition in LHC, challenging the delegation of powers to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for presenting supplementary budget.
The petitioner took the plea that no approval has been sought from federal cabinet for authorizing Dar to present a supplementary or additional budget. Therefore he cannot present this supplementary budget.
Federal government’s counsel has sought time from court for filing reply and court gave him time.
LHC, while reprimanding petitioner over filing excessive miscellaneous petition on this matter, remarked that, “Court cannot allow anyone to waste it’s time by filing undue petitions.”
The judge, while warning the petitioner, remarked that if such type of petitions are filed in the future then legal action can be taken on this count.
The court has adjourned the hearing till May 16.
