LAHORE: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi has urged the judiciary to avoid making decisions that do not fall under its jurisdiction.

While addressing the death ceremony of Khawaja Saad Rafique’s father on Sunday, Hashmi said the courts are making decisions which transgress their powers.

The statement came almost a day after Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had said that he had never gone beyond legal limitations.

He further said it was the first time in the history of Pakistan that a prime minister and his daughter faced such a harsh accountability.

He went on to say that army must stay away from politics, adding army is not supposed to meddle in civilian affairs. “Establishment has to decide that who will run the country,” said Hashmi.

Commenting on a delay in the merger of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said: “The FATA issue is not being dealt fairly.”

The veteran politician further advised the political parties to form their “shadow cabinets”.

“If Shehbaz Sharif is nominated as a candidate for the premiership in the next general elections, he should make a “shadow cabinet first,” he said.

Moreover, Hashmi urged the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to take initiative for the betterment of the country.
