Six faint in Dadu’s sweltering heat

DADU: Six people, including a woman, fainted after the temperature rose to 48 degrees Celsius in Dadu on Monday. They were all brought to civil hospital Dadu from different parts of the district. The hottest day in the country was recorded in Dadu after a sizzling heat wave. All shopping centers, bazaars and local shops remained closed from 11 am to 4 pm and people were confined to their homes. According to details, six people – including two labourers and four elderly people were brought to the Civil Hospital in Dadu and received treatment for heat stroke. Talking to Daily Times, Civil Surgen of Civil Hospital Dadustated that four elderly people – identified as 70 year old, Khano resident of Kaacho (mountain area of Dadu); 60 year old shepherd Naveed Brohi, resident of KN Shah town; 50 year oldJano, resident of the city; 48 year old Lala Khatoon, resident ofJohi town; and two 27 year oldlabourers,Uzair and Aslam Laghari, were brought in an unconscious state and treated by hospital management. Civil Surgeon of Civil hospital Dadu, Dr Abdul RazzaqueJanejo, said that the civil hospital inDadu has established four heat stroke canters and water camps were also established at busy places in the city as well as inMehar, KN Shah, Johi and other parts of Dadu district. DrRazzaque said that people should remain indoors during the day from 12pm to 4:30pm. Children and the elderly should avoid eating hot foods like Samosa, and Pakoras etc. Not only were people facing great hardships during the heat weave in Dadu, but birds and animals were also seen taking baths in the canals to cool down.
