ASI taken into custody by plainclothes officials

KARACHI: A police Officer was taken in to Custody from near Rambo Cinema allegedly in the Jurisdiction of Nabi Bakhsh Polce Staion one of the old city areas of Karachi by the plainclothes personnel on Monday.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Nadeem Tanoli who was posted in the Saeedabad police station and lives in Police Headquarters Garden, was reportedly picked by plainclothes personnel from the Nabi Buksh area on the night between Sunday and Monday, ASP City Shelha Qureshi has informed.

The police officer has two wives and some kind of financial dispute has probably occurred. “There might be a case registered against him in any other Police Station but this matter has been brought under the knowledge of IG Sindh” she explained.

However Nabi Buksh SHO Chaudhry Saeed said that the CCTV footages shows that some plainclothes personnel along with a police mobile van have picked him up and took him away with them to an undisclosed location while the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

It is pertinent to mention that unconfirmed reports about ASI been taken into custody suggests that he had scuffles with the security guards of the Ojha campus of the Dow University .

The police officer who was taken into custody was identified as ASI Shaikh Muzammil. The Sacchal SHO Nasir Afridi that ASI Muzammil had come along with a patient at the Ojha campus where a scuffle between him and security guards occurred over unexplained reasons, adding that the police officer while foreseeing a number of guards coming towards him pulled out his pistol and opened a single fire into the air to disperse them. The detained officer was posted with the rural Sindh SSP Shahjahan Khan and had arrived at the campus for the treatment of one of his family member when the incident occurred. SHO Afridi has informed that a case would be registered against the official while further investigation is underway.
