KMC bungalow worth Rs 5 bn sold illegally

KARACHI: Officers residential bungalow worth more than Rs 5 billion has been unlawfully transferred on fake document in the name of a private party, officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Estate and accommodation department informed.

This illegal act has been matured in connivance with Revenue Department, KMC and administration of Alladin Park.

Bungalow No. 1 near Alladin Park ,measuring 5 acres of land including staff quarters, is on main Rashid Minhas Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

KMC has already spent Rs 100 million on the maintenance of this place including payment of utility bills.

M. Hussain Syed and Saqib Soomro, former Administrator KMC remained an active player in this maladjustment and the later has already left country after institution of National Accountability Bureau cases against him.

Former Minister Local Government, Owais Muzaffar alias Tappi had been main character in this game since 2012 and finally deal had been matured in 2015. He is also out of the country, according to official documents.

Former Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and Mukhtiarkar Gulshan-e-Iqbal were also transferred when they resisted this illegal step in 2013-14.

Later former Commissioner Karachi, Shoiab Siddiqui after knowing this practice had cancelled the deed and ordered vacation of occupation from the site in 2016.

Nawaz Sheikh, private party has claimed that he has got this place on an allotment letter from Board of Revenue.

An official residential site cannot be allotted to any one and this act was taken on fabricated documents, officials of KMC maintained.

This site was part of Safari Park at the time of allotting 400 acres of land to amusement site by Sindh government in year 1970.

During last several months, forceful attempts were also made by builders and land grabber to take over this accommodation for commercial purposes.

It is believed that the said site would be used for commercial and residential purpose and all stakeholders were involved in this ploy, officials of KMC on anonymity have disclosed.

Masood Alam was the first official of Zoo department KMC, who resided in this place for almost twelve years.

The last official resided in this bungalow from February 2006 to 2014 was Ehsan Mirza, an officer of defunct City District Government Karachi.

The site was sealed on February 2015 to save it from illegal occupation under the supervision of Aqeel Baig, Director Accommodation, Akmal Dar, Additional Director Estate and Arif Kalwar, Assistant Commissioner Jamsheed Town and report was submitted in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station for surveillance.
