35 injured as Jaffer Express derails

GUJRANWALA: At least 35 people were injured when a passenger train derailed near Qilla Chand on Tuesday. Jaffer Express was en route from Rawalpindi to Lahore when it derailed near Qilla Chand. Several carriages overturned while three of them fell into a pond. Receiving the information, the Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122 and locals rushed to the scene and started a rescue operation. As many as 32 injured passengers were given first aid on the scene while Waqas (45), Javed (40) and Shahbaz (35) were shifted to DHQ Hospital. Railway authorities and law enforcers have started investigation.
