KARACHI: The Gulshan Police , in collaboration with the land mafia has allegedly encroached the land which had been allotted on the directives of apex court.

Land measuring 1890 square yards, survey number 596, Gulshan-e-Iqbal was allotted to Tariq Ahmed Khan by Karachi Development Authority (KDA) in 1998. The land had been allotted on the directives of Sindh High Court in 1998 but police got the possession of the land illegally and established its office on it.

Sindh High Court later directed the Sindh police in 2012, to evacuate the land and hand over the possession to the owner. Following the directives of the apex court, police evacuated the land and handed over the possession to the owner of the land. The land has remained in possession of the owner since 2012 and owner has constructed the boundary wall on it since the possession was given to the owner following the directives of the court.

Tariq Ahmed Khan has claimed that uniformed police personnel reached his site and razed the boundary wall without any prior notice and explanation. “We are inquiring about the reason behind the demolishing of the front wall of the land since the police has picked up the watchmen from the site and has stationed private security guards on the premises while handing its possession over to the land mafia,”. When contacted the offices of Vital Security Company they informed that Gulshan-e-Iqbal police has deployed them and have directed them to restrain irrelevant people to enter the land.

When contacted SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Rasheed Alvi to minquire the real position he said that since the land is disputed, the police picked the watchmen up but was later released, action against the said property was taken on the directives of police high ups. “The issue of the this land is in the court and land will be handed over to the original owner”. He, however, denied have handed over its possession to the land mafia.

When contacted Sabir who now has the possession of the land after the police intervention has said that “I have bought the land from Abdul Salam”. The land he has purchased has survey number 553, which was owned by Abdul Salam.

The documents obtained by Daily Times revealed that KDA’s Master plan department have duly verified the land as survey number 596. Tariq Khan explained that Abdul Salam took the power of the land survey number 553, acquired by KDA and is trying to confiscate the land of survey number 596, while using the documents of survey number 553.
