A total number of 1434 young men and women received their degrees. Ushna Afzal received Roll of Honor on her outstanding performance whereas Mahad Afzal and AqibJavaid were awarded Excellence Certificates on their outstanding performances in Extra-curricular activities and Sports respectively. 84 Position holders were awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals and 188 Graduates received MS/MPhil Degrees
Speaking at the ceremony Punjab Governor, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana congratulated the students saying that they should be thankful to their parents for making all-out efforts to make their sons and daughters reach where they are today. He requested parents to let their daughters contribute in making Pakistan a prosperous country. If after graduation, they stay at home, then their education is wasted and Pakistan at this point in time needs their talent and skill direly. Addressing the students he said. “This day demands students to save the nation as the future of Pakistan is in their hands and they are safe hands.” Talking about terrorism, he said Pakistan has sacrificed the most for peace in the region and it condemns all sort of terrorist activities happening everywhere in the world. Rajwana said that we should make all efforts to provide social justice to the underprivileged common man to further promote the increasing corporate social service for the needy.
Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, Us Consulate General, in her address congratulated the students and said it is their day. She appreciated the contribution made by University of Central Punjab in promoting higher education in the country.
