LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri has threatened to launch a movement in response to the “movement against judiciary” called by ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a press conference accompanied by the former chief minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmed, on Wednesday Qadri said he would announce to launch “Tehreek-e-Qisas” on the same day Nawaz would announce his campaign against the judiciary.

Nawaz has shown that he intends to launch a movement against the recent judgments of the Supreme Court (SC), declaring him disqualified in the Panama case, and clearing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan of all charges in his disqualification case.

During the press conference, Qadri also directed his workers to be prepared for their upcoming movement.

Qadri demands Shehbaz, Sanaullah to resign

Earlier, the PAT chief had demanded Shehbaz and Rana Sanaullah to step down by 31 December, in connection with the Justice Baqir Najfi Commission report on the Model town Incident.

“They should resign and surrender themselves to the authorities immediately,” said Qadri.

“They cannot get away easily after killing 14 people,” said Qadri referring to the 2014 model town tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left several injured.

He said he would announce his next strategy if his demands were not fulfilled by Dec 31.

After the release of the Model Town Inquiry Commission report, several key politicians, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Pak Sarzameen Party(PSP) Chief Mustafa Kamal, have thrown their weight behind the Qadri’s demand.

However, Rana Sanaullah has rejected the call for his resignation, saying only Nawaz Sharif can ask him to quit.
