Sir: This past Sunday was the final day for almost nine people who lost their lives in a terror attack on a church situated near Zarghon Road in Quetta. The brutal attack left several others severely wounded. Churches and mosques as well as other holy places are believed to be for worship, but terrorists have no sense of religion and humanity at all. It is not the only attack that the people of Quetta have witnessed.
In the past, several such attacks have taken place which claimed thousands of innocent lives. Strong commitments and oaths are taken after every single attack to weaken the terrorists but to no avail.
Such attacks have become very common in the area and people can’t muster up the courage to step out of their houses just because they are from another sect or religion. According to the constitution of Pakistan, everyone has the right to perform their religious rituals and live their lives according to their customs and culture. Unfortunately, this has not been made possible yet.
The heart wrenching attack could be averted if the security had been tighter in the area. It is a sign of the failure and mismanagement of security.
Terrorists should be brought to the book as soon as possible in order to avoid such attacks in future. It is high time the government came up with some strong security strategies to counter terrorism in the region.
