LAHORE: Responding to the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement about running a campaign against the Supreme Court’s (SC) judgments in a disqualification case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and party Secretary General Jehangir Khan Tareen, the PTI chief said Nawaz is incapable of running any public movement.

He was addressing a public rally in Okara, that was as the part of party’s pre-election campaign in the province.

It was the PTI’s first rally after the SC announced its verdict on the petitions of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi against Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen, which cleared Imran of all allegations but disqualified Tareen.

Imran said he was told that Nawaz had announced to run a campaign protesting the judgments of the SC.

“Have you [Nawaz Sharif] ever run a movement?” said Imran.

Imran mocked at Nawaz, saying a coward can never run a movement

Commenting on the judicial proceedings of the disqualification reference against him, Imran said he provided 60 documents in the SC, whereas, he said, Nawaz could only present Qatari’s letter to justify his wealth.

Imran urges nation to guard minorities’ rights

During his address, Imran condemned the terrorist attack on a church in Quetta, adding the nation must ensure the equal rights for its minorities.

He said an important reason behind the creation of Pakistan was “to give equal rights to the minorities”.

He asked the participants of the rally to join him for guarding the rights of minorities.

Earlier, senior PTI leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and Aleem Khan, also addressed the participants.

According to the organisers of the rally, seating arrangements were made for almost 20,000 people.

A separate enclosure was set for women to avoid any mismanagement.
