ISLAMABAD: On the third anniversary of the Army Public School carnage on Saturday, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa remembered the young martyrs and the sacrifices they made for the country.

In his special message via Twitter, the army chief said, “The great sacrifice of our innocent beloved children & their brave families remains unforgettable.”

“It symbolises our undeterred resolve in love of our motherland. Your sacrifice has not gone in vain, we owe this improving peace to you,” said the COAS while paying tribute to the innocent martyrs.

Three years ago on December 16, the peace in Peshawar was shattered when gunfire, smoke and dead bodies strewn across the Army Public School halls and corridors.

Grazed militants rushing from room to room shot randomly at pupils and adults and killed over 140 people including, 132 students.

Following the carnage, the then army chief General Raheel Sharif launched a military offensive called ‘Operation Zarb-e-Azb’ against the militants to purge the country of the menace.
