Punjab Government to resume work on Bulk water supply project

RAWALPINDI: Punjab government has decided to resume work on the pending Bulk water supply project aimed at supplying water to Murree from river Jhelum and later to Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Public health engineering department Punjab has been assigned the responsibility on this count. The project will be completed at the cost of Rs 7 billion.

If this project is completed then it can meet the water requirements of Murree, Rawalpindi Islamabad for a hundred years.

This project was launched by Punjab government in 2002 but it could not be completed within a time period of five years.

Work is being carried out on this project by public health engineering including all related record, feasibility reports and design.

This project is pending for the last 10 years due to which the cost of construction has increased manifold.

A Decision has been taken to complete it on top priority basis.
