Fata reforms

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The Fata reforms bill presented in March, 2017 was a historic moment and equally joyous for every Pakistani as it was going to merge entire tribal areas of 27,200 km area into mainstream of Pakistan. Everyone knows that Fata reform package is by no means a trivial matter. It is a complex task as all political parties of Pakistan have to agree on this agenda.

The task becomes more difficult for the government when any of the political party shows reservations on it and instead of understanding the complexity of task, opposition parties start to exploit the situation causing uproar and boycott of parliament proceedings. This uproar is of no use when few months are left in general elections. Opposition parties may adopt wait and see policy giving more time to government to workout an agreed plan to carry out much needed Fata reform.
