40 lawyers booked for storming Multan’s judicial complex

LAHORE: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against 40 lawyers for vandalising Multan’s  new judicial complex in Multan.

Lahore High Court Bar Association Multan President Sher Zaman Qureshi’s name was also included in the FIR, which was registered against the protesting lawyers on Thursday.

Police registered the FIR a day after the lawyers stormed the new judicial complex on Mattital Road, vandalizing the building in protest over the shifting of the courts.

According to the FIR, 50 lawyers led by Qureshi stormed the new complex, armed with firearms, sticks and petrol, and attacked the office of district session judge.

The case was registered under Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act and Section 16 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.
