Woman commits suicide

RAWALPINDI: A young girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills in Cantonment Police precincts on Thursday.

The victim was residing in his uncle’s home in Coal Centre Saddar. Her parents lived in Chakra. Police said that the girl had been disheartened after her parents rejected a marriage proposal for her. “The parents of a young man had come to her house with a marriage proposal. However, the girl’s parents exchanged harsh words with them and turned down their proposal. The girl went to her room and consumed poisonous pills. She was found unresponsive in her room and taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead,” police said. A post mortem has been ordered.

Man abducted: A man was allegedly abducted from the Lohi Bher Police precincts on Thursday. Mohammad Umair, a resident of Sawan Gardens, lodged a complaint with the police that unidentified kidnappers had abducted his father, Muhammad Arif, from the local market. Police have registered a case.

FIR registered against three: An FIR was registered against three unidentified people for threatening a woman over the phone in Civil Lines Police precincts. Hajra Amin, a resident of Civil Lines, lodged a complaint with the police that unidentified people had called her on her cell phone and had threatened to kill her. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
