Punjab University girl killed in road accident

LAHORE: Irum Manzoor, a student of University of the Punjab, was killed when a bus ran over her in the Muslim Town area of Lahore near the university campus on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when she was trying to cross the road.

Irum, the daughter of Manzoor Ahmad, was a resident of Muredke, Sheikhupura and was the student of MSc Statistics at the College of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences.

The police seized the bus but the driver fled the scene.

The area around the university campus has been crucial in terms of road accidents as the load of traffic increases especially at the entrance and exit points of the campus.

The university management and fellow students condemned the incident and urged the government to take steps to prevent such road accidents in the future.
