Students of KU’s Visual Studies Department showcase their work

KARACHI: Karachi University Visual Studies Department’s graduates promoted Pakistani culture and attract many visitors at their annual degree show.

According to KU official 12 Architecture students, 18 Graphic Design, 8 Film students, 22 Textile Design, 6 Fine Art, and 5 Islamic Arts students are displaying their work in total which is attracting a large number of visitors.

A number of students were awarded distinctions by the external examiners. Students have explored relevant social and environmental themes and proposed innovative design solutions and shared their reflections on social realities. A graduate directory has also been published to accompany the show.

Acting Vice Chancellor and Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Qadri and faculty from other departments visited the exhibition.

The visitors were very impressed with the quality of the work produced. Parents, professionals, students and faculty from other institutions gave very positive feedback.

Chairperson, Visual Studies department, University of Karachi (KU) said that these students made us proud

“While there are very few professional training centers in the fields of fine arts and designing, there is clearly no lack of talent amongst the youth of Pakistan. Graduates are quickly snapped up by employers and art galleries and contribute to the economy and positive image of Pakistan, nationally and internationally” said Durriya Kazi, Chairperson said at the Degree Show 2017 of VS department, KU “They have represented Pakistan on various international forums and won laurels for their country which is a moment of pride for us. Employment rate of our graduates is more than 90 percent showing the level of performance of our department”, added Ms. Kazi
