LAHORE: Three members of provincial assembly from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) have on Tuesday submitted their resignations at Punjab Assembly’s secretariat in a protest against the government for its failure to sack Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah over controversial Ahamdi remarks.

According to details, Maulana Rehmatullah, Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi and Muhammad Khan Baloch submitted their resignations at the Punjab Assembly secretariat. These three were among the five lawmakers from the ruling party, along with two MNAs, who had vowed to resign from their seats in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Conference in Faisalabad.

The other two lawmakers who had announced to resign from their seats were Ghulam Bibi Bharwana from NA-87 and Nisar Ahmad Jatt from NA-81.

It is pertinent to mention here that in a meeting at Sialvi’s residence last month, 15 members had submitted their resignations to the influential spiritual leader Pir Khawaja Hameeduddin Sialvi, but only five of them attended the public meeting at Faisalabad’s Dhobi Ghat to announce their resignations.

PML-N’s senior leader Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri had also visited Pir Sialvi in order to placate the latter but Sialvi had demanded that Rana Sanaullah must appear in person before him, reaffirm his faith and present him his resignation. The provincial law minister had refused to appear before Pir Sialvi.
