RAWALPINDI: At least 1300 teachers teaching in various educational institutions of Rawalpindi are deprived-of salaries for the last four months as the new Online Account System (OAS) introduced by District Education Authority (DEA) Punjab is dysfunctional.
The Education Department Punjab had introduced a new Online Account System to make payments of salaries to teachers and other expenditures of various government education institutions located in Punjab, including Rawalpindi. However, the online System has gone dysfunctional for the last four months due to which around 33,000 teachers across Punjab including 1300 of Rawalpindi Division have not been paid salaries.
Moreover, utility bills and security expenditures have also not been paid for the last four months.
According to sources, the schools’ heads are extorting funds from the students for paying the bills. The Education Department has given directions to schools heads to make payments from their pockets or by extorting money from students.
The parents have urged the relevant officers to take notice of this high handedness being perpetrated on them and their children and address the matter at the earliest.
