LAHORE: A botched explosion was carried out at New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal on Monday, injuring at least four people.
New York police said that they were investigating an explosion of “unknown origin” in Manhattan, and that people were being evacuated.
“The NYPD is responding to reports of an explosion of unknown origin at 42nd Street and 8th Ave, #Manhattan. The A, C and E line are being evacuated at this time. Info is preliminary, more when available,” the New York Police Department wrote on their Twitter account.
One person has been arrested following the incident.
“This was an attempted terrorist attack,” New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said, “Thank god the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals.”
According to Former New York police chief Bill Bratton, the 27-year old suspect is from Bangladesh and may have been acting in the name of Islamic State (IS).
Four people are reported to be injured in the explosion.
