RAWALPINDI: At least 1,300 teachers working in various educational institutions of Rawalpindi have been deprived of their salaries for the last four months as the new Online Account System (OAS) introduced by the District Education Authority (DEA), Punjab has not been working.
The Education Department, Punjab had introduced the new Online Account System to make payments of salaries to teachers and other expenditures of various government education institutions, located in Punjab, including Rawalpindi.
However, the online system has been dysfunctional for the past four months. Around 33,000 teachers across Punjab, including 1,300 of Rawalpindi Division, have not been paid their salaries.
Moreover, utility bills and security expenditures have also not been paid.
The Education Department has given directions to schools heads to make payments from their pockets or by getting money from students. The parents have urged the authorities to take notice of the situation.
