KARACHI: The second day of QMobile Hum Showcase 2017 was held on Friday in Karachi at a local hotel. Sans stellar showstoppers and performances, the event marked fashion business strictly.

BUNTO KAZMI

Veteran and revered couture designer Bunto Kazmi showcased after years. Bunto Kazmi has moved away from her forte as a bridal expert to showcase a capsule collection which displayed a perfect combination of Pakistan’s cultural heritage and modern aesthetic. The ensemble was accented with a few vintage pieces from her personal collection; a fusion of embellishments and striking colours. This collection highlighted Bunto’s ability to innovate and reinvent herself at every step.

RIZWAN BEYG

Rizwan Beyg’s collection was set in a white colour palette of maxis, short sun dresses, white hair ties and summer jackets. Lace and net tops paired with skirts as well as saris were some of the highlights of Rizwan Beyg’s collection which featured net, cotton, organza and lace mainly. Talk about a complete summer-ready collection!

COTTON & COTTON

Cotton & Cotton, much to our pleasant surprise showcased a womenswear collection as well along with their menswear. Bright cotton collared shirts, sophisticated suiting, silk button-downs for women and plain black tuxedos were the key designs of the collection, set in a colour palette of blue, maroon, gold black and lots of pastel hues.

GUL AHMED

Ideas by Gul Ahmed was next that featured silk harem pants, palazzos, kaftans and embellished straight shirts. Also on display were trendy short tops, caped shirts, and straight pants, set in a colour palette of white, blue and black mainly. We loved the black sequined tops with corresponding print pants as well as the lightly embellished black jackets.

FAIZA SAMEE

Next up was Faiza Samee with a collection that was rich in jamawar, raw silk, gota, tassels and chiffon. From voluminous ghagras to dainty chiffon tops paired with palazzos, Faiza Samee poured her heart out with this one. Drapes, angrakhas, Anarkali dresses and shararas were the key highlights of Samee’s collection. Perfect colour combinations and layers which were on point made the designer’s collection a sure shot hit of the night.

ADNAN PARDESY

Adnan Pardesy’s collection stood out for its rhythmic fusion from gold and black to white and gold, featuring sharara pants, fitted knee-length shirts, net and organza evening gowns as well as plain off white shalwar kurta for men with embroidered waistcoats. Kiran Fine Jewellery provided the jewellery for Adnan Pardesy’s showcase.

HSY

HSY’s Love Letters collection was based in chiffon, net and organza mainly, with palazzo pants, crop tops, tunng pyjamas, and voluminous chiffon dresses being the key highlights. Showcasing among stalwarts, HSY held his own and was the clear winner of the night, exhibiting a collection which was coherent, practical and very apt for the summer season.
