Schools get free books in Khyber Agency

KHYBER AGENCY: Under campaign of provision free of cost books by the government, more than 25000 thousands of state-run educational institutions from nursery to 10 grades receive free course books in Landi Kotal, the education department official informed last day.The official while sharing details said that in tehsil Landi Kotal out of 144 schools 128 both male and female schools were gave away books.

He said that out of total strength of students studying in State-run schools in Landi Kotal, 25000 students so far had got books and the rest of them would receive it in near future. Chalking out the scheme he said that the books were provided to the institution in-charge on his or her demand or as per data in enrollment registers. “The process is supervised by Assistant Agency Education Office (AAEO) or his representatives of every tehsil throughout the agency and free books are provided to every government schools both male and female, from nursery to 10th class”, the official added.

Head teacher of government boys’ primary school, Asheqi Kalley, Mr.Farmanullah said that he received 90% books with 10% deficiency whereas in every class, we have shortage of one or two subjects’ course books. He lauded the effort of the government and said supplying free books assist poor students to continue their studies. Muhammad Jawad, a student of 9th grade in government boys high school Ghafoor Khan Kalley said almost all of his class mates had got free books but he added, books of science subjects i.e. Biology, Physics and Chemistry were in Urdu and according to new policy the science course would be taught in English in government schools therefore we had no other option but to buy it from open market.

The teacher and student communities asked the education department to deliver the facility keeping in view demands and needs of the students.
