Widening of Multan Road

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The main entry and exit points of the provincial capital of Punjab are located at the Multan Road and GT road. The Multan Road remains choked because of a bus stand near the National Highway Authority’s office. Facing Multan, the bus stand is on the right side of the road and the passengers alighting from local buses on the left side of the road have to cross the main road to reach the bus stand.

There are narrow lanes on both sides of Multan Road, while the traffic intensity has increased manifold. This road needs the urgent attention of the authorities for its widening. Otherwise, with the increasing traffic day by day, it would soon become impossible for pedestrians to cross it. Instead of creating signal-free zones in rich areas, the roads leading to the exit and entry points of the city that are used by commuters from other cities on a daily basis should be widened.

The Chief Minister Punjab should spare some time to travel on this road to experience the difficulty of road users, especially near the Shahpur Road, where a large number of buses take a u-turn. The government needs to give equal attention to the roads in less developed areas in the city.
