LAHORE: At least 13 people died and several went missing as a boat carrying more than 50 pilgrims sank near the coastal town of Bohara on Thursday.
More than 50 pilgrims, including women and children, were on their way to a shrine ‘mela’ (fair) when their boat capsized in the open sea, police added.
According to initial reports, bodies of two women, two children and a man were brought to Sheikh Zayed Sakro Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The local fishermen and boatmen pulled out the dead and rescued the other people before the official rescue operation could be launched, media reports said.
