PM gives nod to set up Capital Mass Transit Authority

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi principally approved a proposal for the establishment of Capital Mass Transit Authority to plan, operate and maintain the Metro Bus Service.

The project would provide transportation facilities between the new Islamabad International Airport and main residential areas of the twin cities. The decision was taken during a meeting held at Prime Minister’s Office on Islamabad Metro Bus Project which is being established to cater to the transportation requirements of the residents of the twin cities after the completion of New Islamabad International Airport.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Communication Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwaar Chaudhry, Secretary to the Prime Minister, Chairman CDA Shaikh Ansar Aziz, Managing Director of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority Sibtain Fazal-e-Haleem, NHA Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Fianance Secretary Shahid Mehmood and other senior officials.

The prime minister directed that necessary legislation to this effect be initiated and expertise of Punjab Mass Transit Authority be utilized for establishment of the statutory body within minimum possible timeframe.

He also directed the NHA chairman to ensure timely completion of the infrastructure and allied works on the link road of New International Islamabad Airport. Separately, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Wednesday chaired a meeting on Evacuee Trust Property Board at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Muhammad Saddique-ul-Farooq and senior officials were present during the meeting.

Saddique-ul-Farooq briefed the prime minister about the matters pertaining to Evacuee Trust Property Board. Meanwhile, students of Cadet College Killa Saifullah met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday at Prime Minister’s Office today.

The interaction was part of the initiative to invite young leaders to the highest offices and brief them about the working of the government.

The prime minister interacted with students, inquired about their education and also answered their questions.

Students thanked the premier for providing them an opportunity to visit the Prime Minister’s Office and for interaction.
