Rangers arrest five suspects

KARACHI: Paramilitary force Rangers on Wednesday claim to have arrested at least five suspects including a political worker during an ongoing targeted raids in parts of the city.

A political worker was arrested during a targeted raid conducted on a tip off at Madina Colony area.

The suspect was identified as Kamran alias Kami. According to Rangers spokesperson, the accused arrested is affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and had been involved in various cases of crime including aerial firing during strikes, wall chalking, casting bogus votes during general elections in 2008 and 2013, anti-state propaganda on social media and sale and purchase of arms.

In another raid, the force also claim to have arrested a suspect who later identified as Noor alias Noori.

Rangers spokesperson said that the accused belonged to Lyari gangwar and was involved in target killings and extortion activities in Macchar Colony area.

Meanwhile, three more suspects were arrested during a raid conducted in Gulberg neighbourhood.

The suspects arrested were identified as Usman alias Shanu, Asif Rajput and Javed alias Ali. According to Rangers spokesperson, the suspects arrested were involved in various cases of cheating people ahead of the fake prize money schemes and cybercrimes.

The Rangers also claim to have recovered arms, ammunitions from their possession.

The suspects however were later handed over to the police.
