TANK: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Tuesday said that unity of the political parties was must to hold timely and transparent elections.

Talking to reporters, he said that his party wanted timely election, but urged unity among the political forces for the purpose.

“The election should neither be held ahead of time nor should it be delayed,” he maintained.

The JUI-F chief said that the delimitation issue was yet to be resolved, adding that a constitutional amendment was required for resolving the issue.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that none of the religious parties had opposed revival of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

The JUI-F chief said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami was part of the MMA, adding that elements working on the foreign agenda were against the unity of the religious parties.

He added that these elements were using different tactics to create differences among the religio-political forces but vowed that his party would fail their nefarious designs.

He said that JUI-S was regularly taking part in the meeting being held for the revival of MMA. He said that important decision regarding the revival would be taken at a meeting in Lahore on December 8.
