KARACHI: An eight-year-old girl was crushed to death in yet another accident in the metropolis on Monday. The police have impounded a vehicle and also arrested a cleaner while the driver responsible for the accident, however, managed to escape.
The accident took place near Baloch Hotel in Gharibabad area within the limits of Sharifabad police station. Deceased was identified as eight-year-old Laiba, daughter of Sharafat Ali. Police officials and the witnesses said that the accident took place when a speedy passenger bus of route No. W-22 hit her, killing her at a spot.
SHO Akram Arain said that the victim along with her family members on Suzuki pickup were on their way to somewhere from their residence in Orangi Town, adding that the Suzuki driver stopped a vehicle near the Baloch Hotel for some work when suddenly a minor girl got off from the Suzuki when a speedy bus hit and killed her.
The officer said that the bus driver apparently responsible for the accident managed to escape from the scene, however, the police immediately reached the site and arrested the cleaner of the bus while also impounded a vehicle. The officer said that the police was looking for the driver who had been managed to escape from the scene.
On the other hand, the victim’s uncle Liaquat Khan told the media that the bus was in speed due to which the driver of the bus could not control it and hit and killed her niece. He demanded that the traffic police should implement into the traffic laws. The police have registered a case and further investigation was underway.
