Grief and sorrow as Shashi Kapoor dies

As news of the legendary actor Shashi Kapoor’s passing spread, Pakistani celebrities and politicians also took to the social media to express their grief.
Kapoor, who shot to fame with movies like Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Kabhie Kabhie was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Kapoor was born in Kolkata and was the youngest son to Prithviraj Kapoor. He had undergone a bypass surgery and was hospitalised for chest congestion in 2014. Versatile and well versed into parallel cinema, Shashi was also the perfect choice of makers of Jinnah, a 1998’s epic biographical film which follows the life of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Expressing grief over the demise of actor, PTI’s Naz Baloch tweeted: “Some people come in this world and leave an everlasting impression, Shashi Kapoor was one of them. The star will be missed by many generations.” Renowned Pakistani singer, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan said: “At a loss for words as veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away. Spent countless hours watching movies of this legendary and charming actor while growing up. Rest in peace, sir.” Pakistani Sufi rock band Junoon’s frontman Salman Ahmad also posted: “A very kind man and a great actor. I met Shashi Kapoor in Karachi on the set of the film ‘Jinnah’. He was co-starring with Christopher Lee. Shashi always believed in peace and harmony among neighbours. Free at last. (RIP)”
