LAHORE: Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States (US) Sherry Rehman has lambasted the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government for not being prepared to handle the visit of US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis.
Mattis’ visit is critical in terms of our foreign policy, she said while addressing a press conference on Monday.
“Government has not yet taken the parliamentarians into confidence regarding the strategies they have devised for their meetings with the US defence secretary,” she said.
US will surely ask about “terrorist safe heavens” in Pakistan, she said, adding that the government must take a clear-cut stance towards the US.
We have every right to ask the government about what they are doing in terms of communicating Pakistan’s message to the world, She went on to say.
She also questioned the government’s role in dealing with other powers of the regions, saying we must decide a parameter according to which we will engage other countries.
