Cold, dry weather expected to continue in the next week

LAHORE: The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) stated on Sunday that a westerly wave had entered the upper parts of the country and would persist during next two to three days.

According to PMD, the weather in Lahore remained partly cloudy. The city’s maximum temperature was recorded at 24°C and minimum 8°C on Sunday. According to three-day forecast of major cities by the PMD, mostly sunny weather is expected in next two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) in the provincial metropolis.

The Regional Meteorological Centre Lahore said that weather was partly cloudy with the visibility of 4,000 meters at Lahore Airport.

Further, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorms with gusty winds (snowfall over the hills) is expected at scattered places in Malakand division. At isolated places in Hazara division, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Shallow foggy conditions are likely over few plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.

According to Weekly Rolling Fog Forecast, moderate and shallow fog is expected at early morning while misty weather and shallow fog at day time with the visibility 1-3 km till next Sunday.

Meanwhile, the National Agromet Centre has advised farmers to schedule the irrigation plans in accordance with the expected weather, mentioned during the decade. As well as, farmers of cotton crop are advised to prepare fields for incoming Rabi crops and complete sowing in time. Farmers of rain-fed areas are advised to complete sowing of their Rabi crops in order to utilize the available moisture due to recent.
