Getting sun tan this summer is a good idea

Author: Saba Yousaf

We live in a region where we have to face the summers for 8 straight months. We aren’t that excited about summer since we aren’t big fans of the sun and summer can be pretty harsh in Pakistan due to problems like load shedding, having to get cold water every time, limitations in food choices. There comes a time when even the air conditioner gives up. To say that summers are uncomfortable would be an understatement.

The gora complex is found in abundance in this country hence all summer is spent playing hide and seek with the sun. We take extreme measures to protect our complexion and avoid the sun as much as possible.

All of these problems are nothing in comparison to what your body may face due to lack of sun exposure. We have heard how too much sun can cause cancer but having no sun exposure whatsoever can surely cause cancer too. Sunlight is one of the major natural sources of Vitamin D and Vitamin D is an essential component for not only healthy skin but also healthy bones and teeth.

Vitamin D deficiencies can lead to the development of memory loss, it may develop the risk of heart disease in men, it develops severe depression and mood swings, badly affects the immune system of your body, causes severe joint problems and insomnia.

Soaking up the sun for a while in a day fulfills the requirement of Vitamin D in your body and can save you from so many problems, so soak up that sun this summer and get your dose of vitamin D.

Happy sun bathing!
