Census begins in Sukkur division

KHAIRPUR: Census 2017 has started in three districts of Sukkur division – Khairpur, Sukkur and Ghotki.

Khairpur Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajpoot inaugurated the census on Tuesday.

On the occasion, the DC gave a briefing to the media and said that 2,030 personnel of the army, navy and Rangers; 1,970 policemen and 1,271 civilian staff members had been deployed to carry out census in all three districts of the division.

He said that the personnel had been deployed at eight talukas (sub-divisions) of the districts: Khairpur, Kingri, Gambat, Sobho Dero, Kot Diji, Nara, Thari Mirwah and Faiz Ganj.

He said that during the first phase, numbers would be entered on houses and forms filled.

He said that a control rooms had been set up at the district and taluka levels. He urged the public to cooperate with the census staff.

In Ghotki district, around 1,181 policemen, 23 police mobiles and 42 motorcycles were made part of the security detail.
