Army chief visits martyr’s family to offer condolences

LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Saturday, paid a visit to martyr Maj Muhammad Ishaq’s home in Khushab to offer his condolences to the bereaved family, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

Maj Ishaq embraced martyrdom when terrorists opened fire on army personnel during a search operation in Dera Ismail Khan on  November 22.

According to the press release, Gen Bajwa offered prayers for the departed soul. Corps Commander Lt Gen Amir Riaz also accompanied the COAS.

The army chief said that sacrifices were being given by the soldiers for the protection of the nation.

He also said that the remaining terrorists cannot weaken the resolve of the nation, adding that terrorism will be defeated at any cost. He also added that extremism will also be eliminated from the country.

The martyr left behind a widow and an infant. During the last three months, Maj Ishaq was the fourth martyr to be killed in the search operation.

On November 13, Captain Junaid Hafeez and Sepoy Raham were attacked and embraced martyrdom. On November 9 , Sepoy Muhammad Ilyas was killed during a fire fighting incident in Khyber Agency.

On September 13, Lt Arsalan Alam, 22, was killed in cross-border firing in Rajgal valley.
