Second phase of census kicks off in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Second phase of the population census began in Gujranwala, Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin on Tuesday. Gujranwala Division Commissioner Muhammad Asif launched the operation by marking the deputy commissioner’s house. Deputy Commissioner Amir Jaan, ADCG Rani Hafsa Kanwal, ACG Anjum Riaz and Census AC Riaz Ahmed were also present. In the first three days house listing will be done while in the next 11 days census operation will be completed for which Gujranwala has been divided into 3376 blocks and 493 circles. Control rooms have also been set up at tehsil and district level to monitor the progress. Every team will cover two blocks while the army officials will accompany every team for security.
