Second phase of census kicks off in Khyber

KHYBER AGENCY: Like some other parts of the country, second phase of the 6th population census started in Khyber Agency on Tuesday that will continue till 25 of May, official informed.

According to the official of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in the 2nd phase, census will take place in 88 districts from across the country comprising 21 districts of Sindh,21 from Punjab,12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,01 of Islamabad,05 of Gilget-Baltistan,06 of FATA,17 of Baluchistan and 05 of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The official further said that the whole agency had been divided into 25 circles and 670 blocks. For the purpose 341 teams of enumerators had been constituted that would execute its duties under 06 charge superintends and 45 supervisors.

Services of 531 Khasadar or Levies and 680 Frontier Corp (FC) had been hired to carry out the process peacefully, the official maintained.

Political tehsildar, Landi Kotal,Irshad Mohmand who is also one of charge superintendents said that prior all preparation had been finalized for the purpose and teams had been already dispatched to remote areas of the tehsil to initiate the process.

Foolproof security had been measures had been adopted to perform the national cause activity.

It is worth mention here that in first phase, started from March 15 to April 15, census carried out in 16 districts of Punjab, 8 districts of Sindh,14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkwa,15 districts of Baluchistan,5 districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir,5 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and one agency,i.e Aurakzai Agency, of Federally Administered Tribal Area(FATA).
