Greenback closes flat in value against rupee

KARACHI: The dollar closed flat in interbank trade and dull on the open market against the domestic unit on insignificant demand, treasurers said.

The dollar remained unchanged to close at Rs 104.50 for buying and Rs 104.60 for selling in interbank trade while the gap of the greenback rates between the interbank and kerb market remained Rs 1.23 on the day’s average.

Commercial banks made meager payments for import bills, while forex influx remained between $6 million to $6.5 million, bankers said. They said State Bank of Pakistan did not make any intervention in the market, as there was sufficient liquidity in the banks. The domestic currency remained stable against the dollar however greenback’s demand for different payments was still on the cards.

The euro stood firm in interbank trade to close at Rs 113.99 for buying and Rs 114.21 for selling after gaining 67 paisas.
