Italian army chief meets COAS

RAWALPINDI: Italian Chief of Army Staff General Danilo Errico onWednesday met withChief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in eliminating terrorism.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the head of the Italian military appreciated thePakistan Army’s efforts against terrorism during a meeting with the army chief at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

He also lauded the results of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the military’s media wing reported.

The army chief and his Italian counterpart discussed matters of mutual interest with particular reference to enhanced military cooperation in the field of training and counter-terror domains. The visiting dignitary was also given a detailed briefing on the operation and training activities of the Pakistan Army.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the GHQ, General Errico laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A contingent of the Pakistan Army presented him a guard of honour.

Meanwhile, General Danilo Errico called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah at Naval Headquarters on Wednesday. During the meeting, matters pertaining to mutual interest came under discussion. The naval chief highlighted Pakistan’s commitment and performance in the fight against terrorism, including participation of the Pakistan Navy in the Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan (CMCP) and counter-piracy operations.

The Italian army chief lauded the Pakistan Navy’s role and focused commitment in support of maritime security and stability in the region.
