The Net Blocks internet shutdown observatory project, in coordination with the Digital Rights Foundation (DRF), collected evidence of nationwide internet disruptions throughout Pakistan. The DRF said that the government should strike a balance between censorship and security.

Digital Rights Foundation demanded the suspension of the blanket and nationwide ban on social media and channels of communication, adding that it did not serve the principles of freedom of expression. While the government was well within its rights to take measures to ensure the security of Pakistani citizens, it is important to strike a balance between censorship and security, said the organisation.

Net Blocks.org is a global network observatory that monitors Internet shutdowns, network disruptions, and cybersecurity incidents and their relation to politics and conflict in real-time.
