Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry said that he was parting ways with the PML-N. Chaudhry joined the PML-N after defeating its candidate Tehmina Daultana running independently in the 2013 elections in Vehari. Earlier, Law Minister Zahid Hamid said he was ready to resign. Former Sindh chief minister and PML-N leader Arbab Ghulam Rahim announced to quit the party in protest against the use of force on Faizabad protesters.
“I will have nothing to do with the PML-N from today,” he said, adding that what happened yesterday [Saturday] should not have happened. PML-N sources said that Nawaz Sharif had been constantly discussing the ongoing crisis with his close aides. “The party’s parliamentary leadership will only consider holding early elections if the situation deteriorated dramatically.
The PML-N leadership will opt for legal and constitutional options if there are efforts to bring a national or technocrat government into place,” sources said.
