Vaccinations in Balochistan

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Pakistan is one of the few countries in the world where children continue to suffer from polio.

A lot of this has to do with the lack of polio vaccinations because of terrorist threats to vaccination campaign workers. The situation is worst in Balochistan but the Emergency Operation Centre (EPC) has arranged a vaccination campaign, for which it should be appreciated. According to Faisal Ahmed, the coordinator of EPC, over 2.4 million children are expected to be vaccinated.

The campaign has been set-up in 33 districts over three days with 9,764 vaccinators. This includes 8,375 parties and 890 camps which will be operational in both cities and towns. The government should provide them with an appropriate amount of security so that they can complete their important mission.
