According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the diplomats lauded Pakistan Army’s contributions to peace and stability in the region. The regional security situation was discussed in detail, the military’s media wing said. On November 17, Chinese Special Envoy for Afghanistan Ambassador Deng Xijun called on General Bajwa to discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional security issues with particular emphasis on Pak-Afghan border management and counter-terrorism efforts. Separately, Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmed Butt visited forward areas of Bajaur Agency along the Pakistan-Afghan border on Tuesday.
Lt Gen Butt was briefed on a cross-border attack attempt by terrorists on November 13 and about the overall security situation in the agency, an ISPR statement said.
The corps commander appreciated troops for their commitment to deny cross-border movements of terrorists, the statement concluded.
