KARACHI: Boxer Mohammad Waseem on Monday expressed that he might not fight for Pakistan in future as he has not received any sponsorship offers. “I have an upcoming world title fight and before that I have a fight in Colombia, it is quite worrying for me as I do not have any sponsors,” said the boxer. He added that he would like to represent Pakistan but will not be able to do so without sponsors. Waseem also said this might be the last time he would be representing Pakistan as and he would decide whether to opt for a Korean or American nationality. “I do not want to leave Pakistan and not represent my country, as I have won titles for Pakistan before too,” said the Pakistan boxer hoping he would not have to leave his country due to lack of support.

Earlier in October, Waseem successfully defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver flyweight championship title in an eighth consecutive win. Waseem knocked out his opponent in the first round of the eight-round game and won the match. Waseem maintained his winning streak and his number one ranking in the flyweight category. The 29-year-old shot to fame as a pro when he won world silver title by beating Jether Oliva of the Philippines on July 17, 2016, in Korea. He went on to defend his crown on November 27 last year, also in Korea, after downing Giemel Magramo of the Philippines.
