RAWALPINDI: At least 1400 retired employees of Municipal Corporation and 600 male and female pensioners of district government have not been paid a single pie on account of pension for the last four months in Rawalpindi Division.
According to sources, the district government has given orders to stop the pension payments due to lack of funds.
The employees and pensioners have issued a strict warning to the authorities to pay them their outstanding salaries otherwise they will stage protest in the offices of Mayor and Deputy Commissioner and their protest will continue unless arrangement are made for payment of pension to them.
The pensioners criticised the government by saying that they have served department and public for 30 to 35 years and now the Municipal Corporation and district government are not paying pension to them.
