KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair Sunday discussed ongoing development projects in Sindh, besides the situation of law and order.

Soon after his arrival on a two-day visit to Karachi, premier Abbasi reached the Governor House where he held the meeting with the governor.

The premier said that the federal government was on the course of socio-economic development in the country. “Karachi is the economic hub of the country and its development and prosperity has a far-reaching impact on the country.”

Referring to the situation of law and order, the prime minister said that army, Rangers, police and people had rendered sacrifices for the restoration of law and order in the port city and their sacrifices would not go waste. Every step in restoration of peace in city was being taken.

He said that attention was being paid to development projects in the city after the restoration of law and order. He said that the federal government would remain committed to supporting development in the province.

During the meeting, Abbasi was briefed about the development projects to be launched with the assistance of the federal government. Governor Zubair told the prime minister that the scope of the federal government-supported development projects had been extended to Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan and Naushehro Feroz.

“People are appreciating the ongoing development projects under the ‘Karachi Package’ announced by the federal government as evident from the influx of foreign investment and enhanced economic and trade activities in the province,” said the governor.

For the development of Sindh, a close liaison and consultation with all stakeholders including traders, businessmen and representatives of political and religious parties, will be continued,” he added.

During his two-day visit to the port city, PM Abbasi would meet the business community at the Governor House today (Monday). He will also inaugurate Liquid Natural Gas Terminal at Port Qasim.

He will also meet sections of different political parties and other people during his stay.
