LAHORE: A blaze gutted a shoe godown in Moti Bazaar near Masti Gate on Saturday.

The fire engulfed the entire building soon after eruption.

Fire brigade and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control. The rescue operation was hampered by construction work being carried out by Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) just outside the godown.

No loss of life was reported in the incident. However, shoe-making material worth millions of rupees was destroyed in the blaze. Earlier this week, 28 shops were destroyed when a fire broke out in a plaza in New Anarkali. A few days ago, a fire destroyed a shoe factory in Timber Market on Ravi Road. Eight fire trucks were used to douse the fire for two and a half hours, before it was contained, rescue sources had said.
