SUKKUR: After opposition leader in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah’s interference, an anti-encroachment drive from the embankments of all three right bank canals of Sukkur Barrage has been stopped.
Shah while condemning the demolishing of houses said that the destruction of the houses in such a manner will create a wrong impression about the government.
Shah convened a meeting to issue fresh guidelines for demolition. He said that individuals or parties concerned should be allotted plots in Rohri, Arain and Bagarji and they will be served notices in advance of taking a decision on such actions.
Shah said that to convene a meeting of all stakeholders meant to create consensus on the eviction drive and take the opinion of all community heads. Shah reiterated to hold a meeting with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in this regard as a compensation for displaced communities could be devised. The focus would be on removing encroachments on large tracts of embankments.
